A crocheted semicircle can be used for many purposes, not only for amigurumi but also for accessories and for clothing.
For amigurumi you can use semicircles as ears, scales for dragons, eyelids, wings and more.
Using a bigger yarn and/or crochet hook you can crochet semicircles that can be used as scarfs, cowls and more. Small semicircles can be used for applications on bags and other clothes.
This pattern has been crocheted with the “Schachenmayr Catania” yarn with a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

Crochet Semicircles
Even if you start the semicircle with a magic ring, you crochet the shown semicircle in rows.
At the beginning of each row crochet one chain stitch and then turn the crochet piece (turning chain). If you turn your work without crocheting a turning chain first, you will get one stitch less in the next row than you should otherwise have at the end.
Use the check boxes to mark your finished rounds, rows and steps.
- Crochet the semicircle in rows in Emerald.
- Row 1: 3 sc into the Magic Ring (3 stitches).
- Row 2: 1 turning chain, [1 increase] repeat till end of the round (6 stitches).
- Row 3: 1 turning chain, [1 sc, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (9 stitches).
- Row 4: 1 turning chain, [2 sc, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (12 stitches).
- Row 5: 1 turning chain, [3 sc, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (15 stitches).
- Row 6: 1 turning chain, [4 sc, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (18 stitches).
- Row 7: 1 turning chain, [5 sc, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (21 stitches).
- Row 8: 1 turning chain, [6 sc, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (24 stitches).
Done is the crocheted semicircle. Of course you can crochet the semicircle smaller or larger if you use a thicker yarn and/or a larger crochet hook or simply continue to crochet further rows following to the same pattern.
Here some more rows if you want to crochet a larger semicircle:

- Row 10: 1 turning chain, [8 sc, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (30 stitches).

- Row 12: 1 turning chain, [10 sc, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (36 stitches).
